UFC Contender Nate Diaz Knocks Out CBD Ban for 2018
As of January 1, 2018, UFC fighters will be able to use CBD (cannabidiol) as part of their training and healing regimens. Thanks to public promotion of CBD by lightweight title challenger Nate Diaz, aka “The Stockton Slugger”, CBD was placed in the UFC limelight. After a controversial loss to Conor McGregor by majority decision, Diaz brought his vape pipe to the post-fight press conference.
According to the report at BJPENN.com, when queried by reporters about the conspicuous pipe Diaz explained, “It’s CBD. It helps with the healing process and inflammation and stuff like that. You want to get this for before or after the fight, in training, to make your life a better place.”
CBD Approved by WADA
Thanks to public endorsements about the benefits of CBD by athletes such as Nate Diaz, The World Anti-doping Agency (WADA) has removed cannabidiol from its prohibited substances list. Diaz has joined a growing list of professional athletes who have publicly endorsed CBD, all citing the benevolent effects of this non-psychoactive cannabinoid.
The WADA still prohibits THC, the psychoactive component in marijuana plants, so athletes like Diaz will need to stick to pure CBD in their vape pipes for now, according to this article at MMAfighting.com.
Why do Athletes Love CBD?
Why have athletes such as Nate Diaz, former NFL quarterback Jake Plummer, NHL hockey player Riley Cotes, and a host of others at the professional and collegiate levels taken such a public stance on the benefits of CBD? The short answer is because it works.
- CBD provides a safe and effective alternative to dangerous and addictive opioids for pain management.
- CBD is natural. The human body (actually all mammals) already synthesizes CBD naturally via the recently discovered endocannabinoid system.
- CBD is non-addictive and does not produce chemical tolerance or dependency. Unlike synthetic opioids, once the effective individual dosage has been established for effective pain management it doesn’t need to be increased over time.
- CBD is non-toxic so overdose is not a concern, making it safer to keep than aspirin in any household medicine cabinet.
CBD Varieties at Bota Hemp
Fighter Nate Diaz prefers to vape his CBD with a pipe, but there are many other effective methods for taking supplemental CBD without special devices or smoking. At Bota Hemp we offer a full line of beneficial CBD products to suit the needs of each individual regimen.
Effective CBD Dosage
Lower doses are generally used for anti-anxiety and to promote a state of alertness. Higher concentrations have the desired sedative effect for pain management and anti-inflammation therapies. Quarterback Jake Plummer describes his CBD regimen as “a few drops per day”. Effectiveness will vary by individual body weight and metabolism, so the best general advice is to start low and work your way up until the desired relief is achieved.
Salves and creams are available for direct relief of joint inflammation or skin disorders, taking advantage of the endocannabinoid system’s vast network of CBD receptors throughout the body.
We all don’t experience the rigorous physical demands of a UFC fighter like Nate Diaz in our own lives, but we all can benefit from a healthy CBD regimen for the balanced health of both body and mind. You can check out our most popular CBD products at this link.
